Got my edit of Emun of Mor, back from the publisher yesterday and was pleasantly surprised at how little needed doing to it. Managed to get a third of it done in a single sitting. Woot.

The saga takes a dark turn

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

"You must always come to me when there is any strife between you or your heart is anguished. I will stand in her stead and you can speak to me as though I were Lo. This way you will always see the truth before any harm is done to our covenant. Be still and know that I am your God. I will always be here for you Emun no matter how dark the world may become I will always be a lamp unto your feet."
Emun swung his feet from the chair stood up and stretched out his arms and with a yawn he went back inside.
"Lo," Emun called but no answer came. Lo’s cup was on the table still full and beside it was clump of dark fibres. Emun picked up the fibres, "Lo," he called again his voice rising in volume. "Lo," he ran to the bedroom where more of the dark strands covered the bed. Clothes were strewn everywhere and her sword was missing. Emun looked under their bed but all that he found were more strands of her hair. "Lo!" He yelled as he ran throughout the house but is love was nowhere to be found.

And for today

Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010

Here’s the opening to a new chapter.

A single word can change history: a dark command whispered on the wind. The response of the recipient and how they interpret that command can change the face of a nation forever. Such have been the ways of Accuson, the dark lord. He who fell like lightning from the heaven cast down by the host of heaven’s armies for his betrayal. He who believed himself equal to The One who lead a third of the heavenly host in rebellion paid the price with exile, never again would he or any of his followers set foot in heaven again. Accuson would wander to and fro throughout the earth looking for souls to devour with his false promises and silken words. Oh how he would promise the world to any that would bow their knee and worship him as the right and glorious king all the creation.

The minds of mortals and lesser beings could be bent with mere words, words that would become Accuson’s greatest weapon. For with just a few simple words he could turn a heart toward evil, teach it pride and self pity, teach a heart to hate and you have a slave for life. The promise of glory becomes self fulfilling as hatred leads to lust and lights the unquenchable fire of self destruction.

Outward appearances are but masks to hide the inner turmoil of the battlefield that is the mind. There are those who do not hide their true selves behind a myriad of deceptions but even they wage war between heart and mind. No one can fully resist the words of Accuson that carry on the wind like honey blossom, how sweat they taste in the mouth but to the heart they are a slow poison that gradually erodes the soul.

An here’s tonight’s ending

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

“We are returning to Grimlaw,” Emun closed his eyes and thought about his home, “that is where you can find me should you wish to. I will go and see Melech and relay to him all that has transpired here this day,” Emun turned and walked away.
As they made there way out of the Archive Narnock was waiting.
“I should like very much to feel the wind in my face one more time. If you would like a ride home I would gladly take you,” Narnock lowered himself to the ground.
“You can never have too many dragons as friends,” Emun climbed up onto Narnock’s back. “Stefry can you open a door to home?”
“I can do that,” as they climbed high into the artificial sky Stefry began to concentrate.
“You’ll have to hurry little fellow,” Narnock said as they burst through the cloud layer headed straight for the rocks above.
Stefry jumped to his feet crying out, “Ephaphta!” The rock ceiling peeled back to reveal the open skies of Meregith and the bright sun that shone upon the meadows.
“Ha ha,” Narnock laughed triumphantly as he circled around the mountain peaks of the Dragons Teeth.

Stealing time

Saturday, June 19th, 2010

It seems that these days the only time when I can really get anything meaningful done on the book is late at night burning the midnight oil – best get a bigger can of oil as the holidays are rapidly approaching…

The end for tonight:

“Do you not hear me knocking?” the woman from the desk snapped at Stefry who just looked at her and continued to laugh only sombrely. “This is no laughing matter, Stefry,” she said thrusting him aside. “Your friend here has violated our code,” she pointed a waggling finger at Emun who looked up at her with a dopey grin on his face.
“No I haven’t,” Emun took the hat off tossing it into the chair.
“We have rules on who is allowed to partake in the Archive,” the haughty woman retorted.
“No you don’t,” Emun leered down at her. “I know the rules remember,” he added tapping his index finger  on his temple. “I even know what you think of me, Sheila.” Sheila stood there open mouthed, “But human minds do not work in the collective. You only got something of me but I got all of you,” at that point Emun had to check himself suddenly aware of where his mind was going. “This is not good, I do not like to think that way, I am sorry.” This was even more worrying for Sheila as Emun clearly demonstrated that he was able to overcome his thoughts and even take them captive.
“Oh this is good!” Stefry looked at Sheila then Emun and back to Sheila again. “Marvellous,” he squealed delightedly, clapping his hands together.
“We must report this to,” Sheila began.
“Elder Nerrik,” Emun finished the sentence for her, “I would appreciate an audience with him as there is something that I would like him to see.”
Sheila was about to speak again only this time Stefry beat her to it, “Elder Nerrik is not far from here we will and see him right away.”
“Thank you Sheila, this has been a most enlightening experience,” Emun bowed politely. “May The One be with you all.”
At that moment a thought entered Sheila’s mind that she had never had before ‘who or what was The One?’ Emun picked Stefry up and left the Archive in search of Elder Nerrik.
